Tyrelle Johnson is a 22 year old rising senior at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, ME. He is currently studying Government and Legal Studies with a Minor in Religion and specialty in the Arabic language. Tyrelle grew up in Belair-Edison and attended Brehms Lane Elementary School, later graduating from Boys’ Latin School of Maryland in 2011. In the summer of 2015, Tyrelle worked as a Community Engagement Intern in the Belair-Edison Community where his responsibilities were to organize, empower, and create sustaining relationships with community residents. This particular job ignited a passion in Tyrelle to continue community work beyond that summer, and along with his childhood friend Lakia Hudson, created Konquered Fear Xchange, Inc. to serve the youth of Belair-Edison as well as their families. Putting to use vision, drive, commitment, but most of all unity, he is a strong believer that working together toward the purpose of community uplift and academic success for the youth can be achieved. Through Konquered Fear Xchange, Inc. he hopes that the hidden potential within the youth of Belair-Edison will be unlocked through the utilization of social and academic resources that encourage unity, critical thinking, and pride for the community.
Dan Spears is the founder and President of Bowdoin Bound, a 501 (c)(3) corporation based in Baltimore and dedicated to exposing young students from the inner city to the educational opportunities that exist beyond the confines of their respective communities. Each summer Bowdoin Bound brings more than 30 students up to Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine for a week of camp and/or educational activities. The goal is to get the students to begin to aspire to attend college at an early age and to understand that colleges and universities like Bowdoin,
Harvard or Williams are not out of reach. The hope is that instilling these goals at an early age will motivate them in the classroom and help them understand the importance of working hard at school.
In addition, Spears is the Vice President of Industry Relations and Licensing at Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI). In his capacity as Vice President, Mr. Spears works closely with BMI’s Licensing management team to create strategic, value-driven sponsorships and customer events. He serves as a pivotal bridge between the company’s Licensing, Writer/Publisher and Business Affairs teams. In this role, Mr. Spears continues to develop new customer initiatives and strategic partnerships that feature BMI songwriter performances and help educate key accounts, while providing new sources of revenue for affiliates and licensees.
Spears graduated from Bowdoin College with a BA in Art History.
